Our family always loves a quick weekend trip. And this time around they let me choose our next destination and we were off to Hamyang, a city south-east of Seoul located in the South Gyeongsang Province. In the past, Hamyang known as “The City of Seonbi (scholars)” boasts about 100 pavilions where the seonbi discussed politics and philosophy with friends while dinning and having drinks.

I want to visit Hamyang with my family to see these pavilions where the Seonbi liked to study. While visiting the county we walked on the “Path of Seonbi,” a road along a valley that leads to 6 different pavilions. From the entrance of the valley to the last pavilion, the “Path of Seonbi” extended about 6 kilometers. During our walk, it led us through forests and across valleys where we found pavilions hiding behind and between trees.
